Appearing as a guest on Piers Morgan's CNN show, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz did her best to defend the Obama administration's handling of the deadly 9/11 terrorist attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi. She also tried to explain away the trove of misinformation that was circulated by the White House in the days following the attack that left US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead. Morgan began by pointing out the obvious. "It was very clumsily handled," he said about the response to the Libya assault. "Was it scandalously handled? Should heads roll?" After rolling her eyes and shaking her head, Schultz said that President Obama knew Ambassador Stevens personally, which had nothing to do with Morgan's question whatsoever. She continued: "What we need to do when the United States has been attacked, when Americans have been killed while serving our country; we don't need to have Mitt Romney and the Republicans in Congress taking their first instinct, being to take cheap political shots--" "Let me stop you there," Morgan interrupted. "Because it's not about Mitt Romney or what he did...what's equally inappropriate though is the suggestion that Ambassador Rice and others made public statements which were deliberately misleading in the sense of blaming this video when in fact it has to be known after four or five days that it was much more likely to have been a terrorist attack that had been plan." bb547.blogger.com This past week however, it was reported that the Pentagon indeed has finalized plans to do just that. In my opinion, all the evidence to justify this attack is bogus. It is no more credible than the pretext given for the 2003 invasion of Iraq or the 2011 attack on Libya. There is no possibility of agreement at the upcoming G20 summit because the US is declaring financial war on other countries, believes American economist Michael Hudson. The US has been pushing China to revalue its currency -- at a time when Washington has been pumping billions of dollars into its economy -- a move viewed by other countries as an attempt to deliberately weaken the greenback. The issue of exchange rates is expected to be one of the toughest discussion points at the G20 summit in South Korea later this week. Michael Hudson, a renowned economist and Wall Street financial analyst and advisor, says the meeting in Seoul will not bring an end to global currency wars. "The US is going to China and saying 'we want you to commit economic suicide just like Japan did. We want you to follow the same way: we want you to re-value your currency, we want you to squeeze your companies, we want you to go bankrupt so we can make our profit at your expense," says Hudson. Obama explains some things he doesn't understand about McCain's foreign policy positions. BROKAW: Sen. Obama, the economic constraints on the US military action around the world. OBAMA: Well, you know, Sen. McCain, in the last debate and today, again, suggested that I don't understand. It's true. There are some things I don't understand. I don't understand how we ended up invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, while Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda are setting up base camps and safe havens to train terrorists to attack us. That was Sen. McCain's judgment and it was the wrong judgment. When Sen. McCain was cheerleading the president to go into Iraq, he suggested it was going to be quick and easy, we'd be greeted as liberators. That was the wrong judgment, and it's been costly to us. So one of the difficulties with Iraq is that it has put an enormous strain, first of all, on our troops, obviously, and they have performed heroically and honorably and we owe them an extraordinary debt of gratitude. But it's also put an enormous strain on our budget. We've spent, so far, close to $700 billion and if we continue on the path that we're on, as Sen. McCain is suggesting, it's going to go well over $1 trillion. We're spending $10 billion a month in Iraq at a time when the Iraqis have a $79 billion surplus, $79 billion. And we need that $10 billion a month here in the United States to put people back to work, to do all these wonderful things that Sen. McCain suggested we ... Author: TownhallDebate08 Duration: 2:28
