"A 20-year-old Westminster man who authorities say plotted to kill President Barack Obama and shoot children at a Standley Lake High School Halloween event remained jailed Wednesday pending a Friday detention hearing in federal court. Mitchell Kusick told his therapist he stole a rifle from a relative's home that he was planning to use to kill children and hoped for a gun battle with police, according to federal court documents unsealed this week. There have been more protests in Afghanistan against the burning of a Koran in the US. People took to the streets Sunday in the south and east of the country, while the Taliban has called on people to rise up, blaming government forces for any violence. Many of the demonstrations have turned into deadly riots, with 20 already reported dead in the clashes. In southern Kandahar city on Sunday, hundreds took to the streets for the second day in a row, and hospital officials reported 20 people were hurt.
