China News - Marking Christmas in China, China News Broadcast, December 25, 2012In today's China News, Pope Benedict has prayed for religious freedom in China, during his Christmas Day message in the Vatican. More than a thousand people join a Christmas Eve mass in Beijing, braving a cold and windy night. Hundreds joined a dancing Santa for a very Gangnam-Style Christmas in Shanghai, in a not-so-traditional celebration of the festive season. One of the most prominent Christian dissidents in China is rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng, and on this Christmas day, he remains imprisoned in the remote Xinjiang region. A bus crash in China has claimed the lives of eleven children, in the latest tragedy to strike Chinese schools. This accident involves another overcrowded school bus, operated by an unlicensed primary school. Dissident Chinese artist Ai Weiwei has re-tweeted a petition to the US White House, that calls on President Obama to investigate and condemn claims of forced organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Each year, the Winter Fishing Festival is held at Chagan Lake in northeast China's Jilin province.
