US President Barack Obama announces he will bring all US troops home from Iraq by the end of the year, saying the future of the two countries will move forward in a different way, including working together on trade and commerce. But is war an effective way to achieve this? It comes at a cost to taxpayers in Iraq of $800 billion to $3 trillion depending on estimates, not even talking about the incalculable costs of lives.
