Fox News to Petraeus: Can We Run Your Campaign for President?
"So in spring 2011, Ailes asked a Fox News analyst headed to Afghanistan to pass on his thoughts to Petraeus, who was then the commander of US and coalition forces there. Petraeus, Ailes advised, should turn down an expected offer from President Obama to become CIA director and accept nothing less than the chairmanship of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military post. If Obama did not offer the Joint Chiefs post, Petraeus should resign from the military and run for president, Ailes suggested. The Fox News chairman's message was delivered to Petraeus by Kathleen T. McFarland, a Fox News national security analyst and former national security and Pentagon aide in three Republican administrations. She did so at the end of a 90-minute, unfiltered conversation with Petraeus that touched on the general's future, his relationship with the media and his political aspirations — or lack thereof. The Washington Post has obtained a digital recording from the meeting, which took place in Petraeus's office in Kabul."* The Washington Post uncovered a tape with a representative for Fox News president Ailes and then-General Robert Petraeus in Spring of 2011. Ailes pretty much puts his full support behind Petraeus to run for president with himself running the campaign, Rupert Murdoch funding it, and perhaps more of the staff helping in some way. Does this give the public any doubt as to what Fox News' intentions are? What about Ailes' "It was a joke" response; would people buy that? Cenk ...

Republicans Blame Defunct ACORN for Obama Reelection
"Forty nine percent of Republicans believe that President Obama won reelection thanks to the allegedly illegal work of a group that no longer exists, according to a Public Policy Polling survey. The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) was at the center of anti-Obama energy in 2008, when Republicans cited some faulty registration forms obtained by ACORN as proof of voter fraud. The charge was particularly potent, since Obama hired one of the organizations associated with ACORN to run voter turnout for him in the primary."* Cenk Uygur brings us the baffling numbers Public Policy Polling that say 49% of Republicans blame ACORN, which no longer exists, for Obama's reelection. Furthermore, 25% of surveyed Republicans say they would want their state to secede. Jack Black interviewed by Sofia Samrad at the Kennedy Center Honors 2012 for DC HS on DC50CW
Jack Black interviewed by Sofia Samrad at Kennedy Center Honors 2012 for DC Hotspots on DC50CW. David Letterman's "stupid human tricks" and Top 10 lists vaulted into the ranks of cultural acclaim Sunday night as the late-night comedian received this year's Kennedy Center Honors with rock band Led Zeppelin, an actor, a ballerina and a bluesman. Stars from New York, Hollywood and the music world joined President Barack Obama at the White House on Sunday night to salute the honorees, whose ranks also include actor Dustin Hoffman, Chicago bluesman Buddy Guy and ballerina Natalia Makarova. The honors are the nation's highest award for those who influenced American culture through the arts. The recipients were later saluted by fellow performers at the Kennedy Center Opera House in a show to be broadcast Dec. 26 on CBS. Obama drew laughs from his guests when he described the honorees as "some extraordinary people who have no business being on the same stage together." Noting that Guy made his first guitar strings using the wire from a window screen, he quipped, "That worked until his parents started wondering how all the mosquitoes were getting in." The president thanked the members of Led Zeppelin for behaving themselves at the White House given their history of "hotel rooms trashed and mayhem all around." Obama noted Letterman's humble beginnings as an Indianapolis weatherman who once reported the city was being pelted by hail `the size of canned hams.'" "It's one of the ...
